An essential element is the right size hockey stick. With a (too) long hockey stick your body position will be too upright and you’ll have less control over the ball. Children who play with a long stick will technically develop slower. Moreover, it is true that when you have learned something wrong, it is difficult to learn this again the right way.
Unfortunately is the measurement for the right size hockey stick still don the wrong way. Namely, by standing upright and measuring from the ground till the belly button. This almost always results in a too long stick, from which we have told you the effects above.
There is only one correct way to measure the stick size:
-Stand upright
-Measure the distance from the armpit to the underside of the kneecap
